SumUp x N26: Cashless, contactless payments for business customers

SumUp has joined forces with N26 to offer the Mobile Bank’s business customers a cashless, secure and contactless way to take payments. The partnership will help freelancers, the self-employed and entrepreneurs across Europe to digitise their businesses and offer their customers more variety when choosing how to pay.

Letting business owners focus on what matters most

Just like us at SumUp, N26 believes that small businesses deserve top-of-the-line tools and products to manage their money and run their companies. Ensuring access to contactless payments, our partnership empowers these business owners to focus on their passion–offering great quality service to their customers.

Pushing for the wider adoption of cashless payment solutions across Europe has become increasingly important over the last year. The COVID-19 pandemic shifted the payments landscape, with customers veering away from banknotes and coins and opting for safer ways to pay for goods while minimising contact. That’s where the offerings of SumUp and N26 come in.

Freelancers and the self-employed are an increasingly important part of today’s global workforce. At N26, we’ve seen our business customer base in the core markets triple over the past 2 years. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with SumUp, a leader in digital payments, to provide our valued business customers with the right tools to help their businesses thrive in today’s increasingly digitised world.Alex Weber, Chief Growth Officer of N26.

European businesses keen to digitise

A recent SumUp survey of small business owners in France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK showed an increasing will to adapt towards a digital-first environment. 34% of the respondents said that they have already introduced additional payment methods such as remote payments, and 23% opened an online store. Meanwhile, 22% of the respondents said that they need help to digitise their business, emphasising again the need for companies such as N26 and SumUp to support these business owners with innovative solutions to common problems.

How to benefit

Thanks to our partnership, N26 Business, N26 Business Smart, N26 Business You and N26 Business Metal account holders across Europe can purchase SumUp’s mobile point-of-sale devices for a reduced price.

Eligible N26 business account holders will be able to take advantage of a special offer allowing them to accept card and mobile wallet payments from their customers, without having to handle cash. And, as always with SumUp, our products and services come with no hidden fees or contracts, just a one-time purchase cost and a fixed transaction rate.

To purchase a SumUp Air card reader, N26 customers can head to the “Explore” tab in their N26 app then head to the “Partner offers” area. Once you’re there, you’ll see “SumUp” listed. After activating the offer, you’ll receive a unique code which you’ll need to enter when you create a SumUp account–the code will ensure that your discount is automatically applied. And then you’re good to start accepting secure, contactless payments.
